I’ve come to think that binge-eating and doom-scrolling are a few of those signs that show I cannot look at the swelling of anxiety in my mind. If that is the case, then, the way I can stop binge-eating and doom-scrolling is to look at the anxiety in the face. Anxiety itself never threatens my being (although it feels like it very much, for sure), it arises in my mind like clouds or rain and that’s it. Let’s try to stay with it and be just as the anxiety is in me.
You are the only one who can protect, encourage, and stay with yourself. A phone does none of those. You are the one and only who can grasp the anxiety that engulfs you. Let’s be sympathetic and love yourself.
